University of Strathclyde – Design Manufacture and Engineering Management Department purchase their second Universal laser
Hobarts are excited to once again be working with the University of Strathclyde who, after our resent flight to Strathclyde for the installation and training are now the proud owners of a VLS3.60DT – 60 Watt desktop laser.
After working with and using their VLS6.75 – 60 Watt laser since 2017 the University were keen to purchase an additional Universal Laser for the department.
The Universal Laser VLS3.60DT is a brilliant sized desktop laser, offering a processing area of 610mm x 305mm and can be configured with 10 to 60 Watts power units.
The VLS3.60DT is a compact and economical entry level platform that offers a material processing envelope of 610 x 305 x 102 mm or 18,878 cm³. The VLS3.60DT can be equipped with one of five 10.6µm CO2 laser sources ranging in power from 10 to 60 watts or one 9.3µm CO2 30 watt or 50 watt laser source.
Air-Cooled Laser Source
Because our laser sources are air-cooled, no complicated liquid cooling systems are required.
High Reliability, Excellent Power Stability
Our laser sources provide consistent power for predictably excellent processing results.
Laser Fan Control (to reduce noise)
Universal’s lasers are all air cooled by computer-controlled fans. Fan speed is reduced or increased as a function of laser temperature, reducing noise levels when the lasers are being used on lower power settings.
A red laser pointer is installed for easy material alignment.
Patented Cross-Platform Compatibility
Laser sources can be freely interchanged between laser platforms.
Patented Free-Space Gas Slab Laser Design
Our patented laser sources use free-space gas slab resonators to produce an excellent quality beam with even power distribution and good near and far field characteristics.
Patented Pre-Aligned Laser Sources
Laser sources are pre-aligned at the factory and do not need to be internally realigned.
Smart Laser Source Technology
Because we manufacture our own lasers, Universal’s lasers can communicate their model number to the laser system CPU, allowing the laser system to automatically choose the right settings for a particular material based on available laser power.
Warranty Available Up To 5 Years
Our standard warranty can be extended for up to half a decade of coverage.
Wide Selection of Power Levels
Lasers are available at power levels from 10 to 150 watts.
The VLS3.60DT has been paired with a BOFA AD Base 1 Oracle Extraction Unit, this extraction unit has been designed so that the Universal laser can sit on top of the extractor, effectively doubling up as a workstation, making this a really compact versatile laser that can be moved around the department when needed.
The Advantage Base 1 Oracle has been designed so that a Universal Laser can sit on top of the extractor, effectively doubling it up as a work station.
All the Base units in the range have the option of an onboard compressor for a compact installation. BOFA’s ‘Easi-Seal’ filter location makes filter change easy, quick and safe.
- Auto sensing voltage (90-257v) for global use
- Automatic flow control
- DeepPleat DUO pre filter
- Advanced Carbon Filter technology
- HEPA and Gas combined filter
- Reverse flow
- ‘Easi-Seal’ filter location
- Small footprint
- Low noise levels
We wish The University of Strathclyde all the best with their new laser and look forward to supporting them moving forward.
