3.0mm LaserPlySTANDARD - Birch Ply grade B/BB

Being a natural product, the colour/shade of wood will alter with each batch.

Every effort is made to supply flat sheets but unavoidable warping may occur. It may be necessary to tape the wood to the laser bed.

Plywood has a tendency to curl because the veneer is rotary peeled from cylindrical logs and the nature of the fibres will tend to revert to their original format: ie round.

This means that while there are manufacturing standards for length, width and squareness there are none for the flatness of plywood. Plywood of 12mm and less have fewer laminations so will be more prone to curling, both on account of the forces and tensions within the board and the board's relative weakness with respect to external forces during storage and transport.

We recommend customers try to keep stocks of plywood so the wood has sufficient time to acclimatise to their new environment. Where possible, please store where the tempeature/humidy is constant.

***All dimensions are nominal - sheets maybe supplied up to 2mm undersize on each edge***

*Larger sheets maybe available - please ask*

Brilliant material which I use all the time for laser cutting. Hobarts kindly cut the sheets in half so they fit my machine. Greatly appreciated!

I bought a pack of 10 pieces. The wood was very warped, I struggled to get a decent cut on it even weighing it down with lots of lead weights to keep it flat. The wood also gave of a lot resin as it was cutting, so much that my laser cutter was wet when picked up the piece after it had been cut. The wood also had an ink stamp on one end that was hard to sand out as it went down into the wood quite far, I wouldn't recommend this for any projects where the wood is going to be the final surface. I phoned Hobarts to ask them about it and they said someone would get back to me, I'm still waiting for that call, don't think I'll be buying anymore from them in the future.

This the best laser plywood I have tried, and I have tried a few. It isn't flat -- plywood this thin never is, but the sheets from Hobarts are as flat as I have seen. To laser cut plywood this thin, it needs to be taped flat. The quality of the birch face is good with very few repairs.

A consistent laser ply that gives good results when used to engrave onto. Sometimes a patch here and there that doesnt cut out due to the glues, I guess but rare. Comes to me well packaged without any damage or marks. My only issue, always warped!! As soon as you open the packaging, you can see it springing out of shape. When used on a laser machine that have a very specific focal length, from one side of a board to the other there could be as much as 30mm out of focus! When you use a whole sheet at a time, this is unacceptable and impractical. It may be due to the kiln process before dispatch but I just want a straight an level board.

Not used as yet, but disappointed that material was extremely warped.
